Barneys New York × Haas Brothers
Our largest mirror, inside the Haas Brothers' takeover.

For the 2017 holidays, Barneys handed The Haas Brothers creative run of the store, and The Self-Portrait Project installed a large mirror photo booth on the fourth floor. Guests triggered their own studio-quality self-portraits with a wired foot remote and shared them via an opt-in tablet, while every #haasrules post raised money for charity.
The brief
For the 2017 holiday season, Barneys gave The Haas Brothers creative freedom across the store, including the fourth floor. The Self-Portrait Project's interactive mirror installation was integrated into that takeover, set among the Haas Bros. motifs such as the "BOULDER AND WISER" neon signage.
What we built
A large Self-Portrait Project mirror installation on the fourth floor. Participants used a wired foot remote and the mirror to take their own photos on their own terms, then shared the images to themselves via a tablet mounted on the monolith running a photo-sharing app with opt-in waiver language. A charitable mechanic was built in: every social post shared with the #haasrules hashtag raised $5 for the Children's Defense Fund, donated directly by Barneys.
The outcome
Over a 48-day run, the installation produced 14,295 images and 4,585 shares, reaching 1,547,822 people. The #haasrules hashtag activity raised roughly $10k for the Children's Defense Fund.
