Mirror photo booth rental in NYC

The mirror at the center of the night.

For galas, weddings, corporate events, and parties, the Classic two-way mirror becomes a quiet centerpiece your guests return to all night. No operator hovering, no line being herded — everyone looks into their own eyes and takes the picture themselves, and leaves as the author of their own portrait.

InvestmentFrom about $1,500 — most events land between $1,500 and $5,000.

The Classic portable two-way-mirror booth
ClassicOur event mirror

A portable two-way-mirror booth — a camera behind the glass, a remote in your guests' hands. Set it anywhere with a power outlet; it runs all night, captures thousands of frames, and every guest keeps theirs. Uses the same system we build every custom activation on top of.

  • Guests take their own images.
  • Instant digital delivery, plus on-site prints as favors.
  • Layer in drawing, double exposure, or a branded backdrop.

Planning the room

What your venue will ask us. Answered.

We've set the mirror in Manhattan ballrooms, Brooklyn bars, museums, conferences, and living rooms. The logistics are simple, and they're the same questions every NYC venue asks — so here they are.

Space
The mirror stands freestanding and sets into a corner, along a wall, or at the center of the room — we scale the footprint to the space, from a tight bar corner to a ballroom.
Power
One standard 120V outlet. That's the entire technical rider — no special circuits, no generator.
Connectivity
Venue wifi if it's available. Instant text and email delivery ride on it; the mirror itself keeps shooting either way.
Setup & breakdown
We arrive ahead of doors, style the mirror into the room, and break down after close — scheduled around your venue's load-in windows, freight elevators included.
Staffing
An attendant from our team stays with the mirror all night — running prints, resetting the room, never appearing in the frame.
Paperwork
Certificates of insurance for NYC venues are routine — tell us who to name and we'll send it with the booking.

I’ve been to two Self-Portrait Project installations, and it’s hands down one of the coolest and most interactive art experiences I’ve ever had. Each booth is a work of art in itself, totally unique and clearly designed with intention. I’ve followed their Instagram for years, and it’s amazing how every setup feels tailored to its environment, encouraging you to play around with this unexpected thing you just found hiding in plain sight. The photos you take are about self-representation, but the experience is surprisingly communal. You step into the booth thinking it’s just about you, but it quickly becomes a space of shared discovery and connection. Strangers gather to figure out what’s so fascinating, conversations spark, and then there’s this rare energy where people are just organically engaging with one another.

We cannot say enough good things about Self Portrait Project, hands down the best wedding decision we made! Every aspect of the experience was seamless, from setup to receiving all 700+ photos (!!) in a digital album after our wedding. Our guests are still raving out the experience, and the photos are absolutely stunning! Some of my favorite photos of the night were taking in the Self Portrait Project booth. The photos are stunning high-quality portraits! The booth itself is beautiful, such a fun addition to our wedding decor! We highly recommend!!

If you're planning an event (or, like us, a wedding), I highly recommend going with Self-Portrait Project. Not only is the setup incredibly simple on the guest side, but the photos that come out are absolutely incredible. It's amazing to watch your guests really feel ownership of their photos, and you get so much more emotion in each picture. You'll work with the NICEST and most professional team. Seriously, you won't regret it.

Good to know

Questions, answered.

How much does a photo booth rental cost in NYC?

Most events start around $1,500, with the majority between $1,500 and $5,000 depending on hours, add-ons, and travel. Fully custom brand builds start at $5,000. Tell us your date and venue and we'll send an exact quote.

How does the mirror photo booth actually work?

It's a two-way mirror with a studio camera behind the glass. Guests look into their own eyes and take the picture themselves with a remote — no operator in the frame, no line being herded. Portraits are delivered digitally, with on-site prints as an option.

Do you serve all five boroughs? Do you travel outside NYC?

Yes — we're based on the Lower East Side and work across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island, plus Westchester, Long Island, and New Jersey. Beyond that we travel worldwide; travel is simply quoted per event.

How do guests get their photos?

Instantly at the mirror, by text or email, plus optional prints on the night. With each guest's consent, their portrait can also join the public living archive.

What kinds of events do you do?

Galas and benefits, corporate nights and launches, conferences, parties and milestones, and weddings. For brands, we design fully custom activations built around your space and goals.

How far in advance should we book?

The earlier the better for peak dates — spring and December weekends in New York go first — but reach out anytime. Tell us the date and we'll tell you what's open.
